Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Machine

To help in your healing, you may be referred for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a simple but effective treatment in which you breathe pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. The chamber has clear sides through which you can see your surroundings, and is in a comfortable treatment room equipped with TV and videos. The therapy quickly and safely delivers high concentrations of oxygen to your bloodstream, which helps increase your body’s own natural wound-healing abilities. This treatment modality is effective in not only treating specific chronic and difficult wound such as diabetic foot wound, wounds associated with bone infections, but also other difficult conditions like consequences of radiation injury, acute hearing loss etc.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Indications:

  • Acute carbon monoxide intoxication
  • Preparation and preservation of compromised skin grafts
  • Chronic refractory osteomyelitis, unresponsive to conventional medical and surgical treatment
  • Osteoradionecrosis as an adjunct to conventional treatment
  • Soft tissue radionecrosis as an adjunct to conventional treatment

Diabetic wounds of the lower extremities if all of these apply:

  1. You have Type 1 or 2 diabetes and have a lower extremity wound that is due to diabetes.
  2. You have a wound classified as Wagner Grade III or higher.
  3. You have failed an adequate course of standard wound therapy.

We Put Patients First

There are many medical conditions, even ones that you may not be aware of, that cause nonhealing wounds. We perform a series of diagnostic tests and, once a cause is clearly identified and understood, inform your physician. We will then work with him or her to develop your wound treatment plan. This collaborative approach helps to assure you that your doctors know about the treatments and medications you receive to help heal your wound.

We Work With Your Doctor

We work with you and your doctor, like a team, to develop a treatment plan which meets your needs. Treatment could begin during your first appointment.
